Firstly, thank you for following the link (or however you found this blog) and taking time to read.
In April 2018 I finished my time at LBG after just over 28 years service. Over many years LBG has partnered with and supported some very fine charities and raised millions of pounds to support many extremely worthy causes.
So with a bit of free time on my hands I decided to tackle the West Highland Way and, whilst doing so, to try and raise some funding for Mental Health UK, the 2018 LBG Charity Partner.
Information about LBG's support for Mental Health UK can be found here and more detail about the charity itself here .
With just over 2 weeks until I set off, preparations are going well. The stop-overs are all planned and the 96 miles (154km) will be covered in 6 days. Longest day will be the first day at 20 miles, shortest will be Day 3 at just 13 miles. The plan, once in Fort William, if knees, feet and weather permits is to ascend Ben Nevis.
There are a few things I need to purchase before I set off but most things are well in hand - it's just last minute things.
I also plan to update this blog on a daily basis during the 9 days I am in Scotland, with a running (walking) commentary and pictures taken en route. This is totally dependent on wifi and 3G/4G connectivity so we'll just have to see how that goes. It would be great to have you follow the journey from start to finish - having people with me in spirit is nearly as good as you actually being there in person. Only less pressure to make small-talk .....
So watch this space.
regards, Stokesy
